Home School Agreement

 

At our Burnt Oak, we believe that children achieve their very best when families and staff work together in a strong, supportive partnership. Our Home–School Agreement sets out the shared expectations, responsibilities and values that help create a safe, positive and successful learning environment for every child.

By choosing to send your child to our school, you are agreeing to follow and uphold the commitments outlined in this agreement. This ensures that we all work consistently towards the same goals and provide your child with the highest quality education and care. Thank you for being an essential part of our school community and for supporting us in helping your child flourish.

Responsibilities of Burnt Oak Primary School

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Provide a safe, nurturing learning environment for your child to attend.
  • Care for your child’s safety and happiness.
  • Monitor your child’s punctuality and attendance in line with their achievement, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Inform you when there are concerns about your child’s attendance and punctuality.

Uniform

  • Offer a cost-effective, easily accessible school uniform.
  • which promotes a sense of pride community and belonging.

Home / School

  • Work together in constructive partnership with parents and carers for the benefit of their child.
  • Set your child regular home learning tasks, including reading, times tables, and spellings.
  • Keep you informed of your child’s progress, learning and well-being, through meetings, parents’ evenings and an annual written report.
  • Keep you informed about general school matters through regular communication via newsletters and Twitter.
  • Contact you as soon as possible if we are concerned about your child’s progress, behaviour, attendance or well-being.
  • Respond to you as soon as possible if you contact us.

Effort

  • Plan a curriculum that achieves our mission:  we all flourish from a wealth of learning experiences that positively impact on academic, physical and emotional success.
  • Encourage and motivate children to always do their best and enable them to achieve their best in all areas of learning by ensuring our 4-character values run through the heart of the experiences we offer:  respect, resilience, empathy and responsibility. 
  • Provide a range of extra-curricular activities designed to enrich your child’s school experience.
  • Enable your child to understand that success and achievement will come with effort.

Behaviour

  • Have high expectations for work and behaviour, fostering respectful relationships and helping to develop a sense of rights and responsibilities.
  • Implement positive behaviour management policy.
  • Develop children socially, morally, spiritually and culturally within the school values, British Values and 9 protected characteristics.

Responsibilities of Parents and Carers

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Make sure my child arrives at school on time between 8:35 – 8:45, correctly dressed in school uniform and ready for the day ahead.
  • Fully support the school Attendance Policy. Avoid taking holidays or days out during the school term and recognise holidays will not be authorised.
  • Contact the school each day of my child’s absence and provide medical evidence.
  • Make arrangements for my child’s safe journey to and from school and ensure that they are collected on time at the end of the day.

Uniform

  • Ensure my child attends school in the correct school uniform and shoes.
  • Ensure my child’s school uniform and PE kit is smart and clean.
  • Ensure my child has the correct PE kit.

Home / School

  • Support my child to complete their Home Learning Activities – listening to reading at least 4 times a week, spelling and completing times tables practice using TT Rockstars or Numbots.
  • Ensure that the school is informed immediately of any change to contact details.
  • Attend parents’ evening and discussions about my child’s progress, achievement and social development.
  • Reply to any school correspondence.
  • Ensure that no negative, personal or adverse comments about children, parents, staff or the school are posted on any social networks or websites, including Facebook and WhatsApp.  
  • Ensure any concerns are shared with the school and not published on social media.
  • Be respectful and considerate towards all members of the school and the local community.

Effort

  • Speak to school staff about any concerns or circumstances that might affect my child’s work, attitude or behaviour.
  • Help my child to be healthy in mind and body.
  • Help my child to understand that success and achievement can come with effort.

Behaviour

  • Support my child’s education at Burnt Oak Primary School under its values and policies by encouraging high standards, a positive attitude and good behaviour.

 

Responsibilities of Children

Attendance and Punctuality

  • Come to school every day on time.

Uniform

  • Wear my school uniform and school shoes.
  • Wear the correct school PE kit.

Home / School

  • Bring everything I need to school on the day it is required.
  • Look after any books or other school property that I borrow.
  • Complete my home learning – reading, spelling and times tables.
  • Tell an adult if something is making me sad or angry.
  • Tell a teacher or someone at home if I find my work difficult.
  • Demonstrate respect, empathy, responsibility and resilience
  • I understand that the school will check the websites I visit and how I use the school’s computers and equipment. This is so that they can help keep me safe and make sure I’m following the rules.
  • I will tell a teacher or a member of staff I know immediately if I find anything on a school computer or online that upsets me, or that I know is mean or wrong.
  • I will always be responsible when I use the school’s computing systems and internet.
  • I understand that the school can sanction me if I do certain unacceptable things online, even if I’m not in school when I do them.

  • Always try my best and work to my full potential in all aspects of my learning.

Behaviour

  • Be a good ambassador for the school by following the school rules both in school, during extra-curricular activities and while on off-site activities:
