PE and School Sport

At Burnt Oak Primary School, we are committed to providing an outstanding PE curriculum that enables every child to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to lead active, healthy lives both now and in the future. We have chosen the Rising Stars Champions PE scheme as the foundation of our PE provision because it aligns closely with our school values and educational priorities.  The Rising Stars Champions scheme provides a comprehensive framework that covers all National Curriculum requirements for PE at Key Stages 1 and 2, including core subjects such as games, gymnastics, dance, athletics, outdoor and adventurous activities, and swimming. This ensures that our pupils receive their full entitlement to a broad and balanced PE curriculum. The scheme provides:

  • Logical sequencing: Units of work are carefully ordered to build skills progressively from Reception through to Year 6, ensuring children develop competence systematically
  • Age-appropriate content: Activities are tailored to different developmental stages, with clear learning objectives for each year group
  • Comprehensive coverage: All areas of PE are addressed with appropriate depth, ensuring children experience a rich variety of physical activities

Assessment frameworks: Built-in assessment tools help teachers track pupil progress and identify where additional support may be needed
