Nursery

Why should you choose Burnt Oak as your nursery?

Foundation of education

Nursery is a vital part of child’s education. It is where they learn to build relationships with their peers. They learn to make sense of their physical world and their community through opportunities to explore, observe and find out about people, places, technology and the environment. We help the children to develop their co-ordination, control and movement, and provide opportunities for them to be active and interactive. Children are able to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, and given opportunities and encouragement to share their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role play, and design and technology

Amazing team

Within our nursery we have an extremely dedicated team of staff. Each member of our team is dedicated to providing a warm, caring and nurturing environment to support individual learning.  Our team strives for improvement in their personal development as well as the children in their care.

In the moment planning

At Burnt Oak Nursery we plan activities that are guided from the children’s interest and what they wish to learn about. We are constantly adapting our learning environment so that we can develop the children’s knowledge and skills in a way that they find engaging and enjoyable. This has been proven to encourage children to engage in their learning and achieve their full potential.

Curiosity approach

This year we have fully embraced the curiosity approach. The curiosity approach is designed to give children as much real life experience as possible. This means that we use many real life objects in a nursery setting. In our home corner we have china tea sets along with everyday cooking utensils. Our Reading corner is a cozy space with cushions, plants and everyday items to use as props in our storytelling. This gives children the opportunity to understand how real life items feel and how important it is to look after their environment. This also brings familiarity to children of objects that they might find around their home so that they feel comfortable in our setting from the very beginning of their learning journey.

Building relationships with parents

At Burnt Oak we understand the importance of building relationship with parents so that we can work together to provide the best foundation for each child. From the very first contact with the parents through home visits to when the children leave to go to reception class, we are striving to ensure parents are part of their child’s learning and education.
