Design and Technology
Design and Technology prepares children to develop a range of practical skills associated with tomorrow’s rapidly changing world. Children develop and understanding of problem solving, critical thinking skills and drawing as a method of communication.
At Burnt Oak, we encourage imaginative thinking. We also develop children’s communication skills by creating opportunities for children to work as a group; talking about their likes and dislikes while designing and making.
In our curriculum, we encourage children to select appropriate tools and techniques for making a product, whilst following safe procedures.
The children also experience using their Design and Technology skills in extra-curricular situations, when they participate in design challenges and competitions run by our local universities, MEBP and STEM Kent.
